Wall Of Memories

Thousands of animals suffer every single day. But those voices we have heard and rescued will not fallen silent and forgotten.

SPCA Inspectors dedicate their lives to protecting all animals. To ensure their voices are never silent and their memories live on for ever, we have erected a beautiful brick wall in Remembrance to the animals who have suffered by the very hands who were suppose to care and protect them.

Over the 76 years the Roodepoort Krugersdorp SPCA Inspectors have investigating and prosecuting thousands of animal cruelty related cases.

In 2018 a video was received showing an emaciated Greyhound “Tiger” being beaten with a knobkerrie by his owner. The more Tiger screamed in pain the more the owner took delight in beating him.

What was Tigers crime? He stole a piece of mealie pap which had been thrown onto the ground for a chicken.

Unfortunately, we did not get to Tiger in time to save him. Our Inspectors found a limp shell of a dog still alive but unconscious. Tiger was rushed to our veterinarians, but the damage was done, and he slipped away.

Tiger did not die alone lying-in urine and faeces tied to a pole as we found him. His last minutes were in the arms of a SPCA Inspector, lying on green grass being loved and soft words of reassurance being whispered into his ear.

Tiger is one of the many abused animals who will never be forgotten. Their memories will live on for ever.

Our “Wall of Memories” has a plaque dedicated to each animal we have rescued from abusive hands.
